Jasper Blom Quartet ft. Bert Joris

Polyphony

Jasper Blom – saxophone
Jesse van Ruller – guitar
Martijn Vink – drums
Frans van der Hoeven – double bass

in cooperation with Bert Joris – trumpet

Fifteenth-century Flanders was famous for a very special export: polyphonic music. Jazz saxophonist Jasper Blom was inspired by all those melodies circling and chasing one another. He let his quartet improvise to compositions by Jacob Obrecht, Josquin Desprez, and others. This led to the quartet’s live album Polyphony, which they will now play at Wonderfeel. Special guest is Flemish top trumpeter Bert Joris.
