Sourakata Koite – kora
Senegalese bard Sourakata Koite recorded his debut album En Hollande in an old chicken run in Delft, in the early 80s. The kora – something in between a lute and a harp – is played by the griots or jali, West African musicians, historians, poets: troubadours. Koite returned to the Netherlands for the first time in a long time for last year’s Le Guess Who? And guess what? His debut was reissued in January and is en route to becoming a modern kora classic, and Koite is playing at Wonderfeel!
