Schaep en Burgh
A green estate as a festival location? Abel Mathijsz. Burgh and Gerard Simonsz. Schaep wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. These wealthy gentlemen of Amsterdam became the owners of the estate at the beginning of the 17th century. Ever since, art and culture have been a rich tradition of the Schaep en Burgh estate. The estate has had its current size since the 17th century. Back then, the garden was still modestly Classicist, with a formal and symmetrical layout. Later heirs designed the Schaep en Burgh estate according to early nineteenth-century tastes, which were heavily influenced by the English landscape garden with its emphasis on a gently undulating landscape, overgrown hills, large groups of trees and round ponds.
The stately country residence at Schaep en Burgh houses the head office of Natuurmonumenten, an organization dedicated to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the Netherlands. We are greatly honoured that Natuurmonumenten has placed this wonderful estate at our disposal and has made every effort to assist us in achieving a successful festival.
The covered Wonderfeel stages are placed at the most beautiful locations of the Schaep en Burgh estate. These special acoustic pavilions and stretch tents are supplied by Tentworx.
