NEO-FANFARE 9 X 13
NEW BABYLON
Slowly but surely, we’re starting to drown in attempts to become better versions of ourselves. Burnouts have become the norm among people in their 30s and 40s, people in their 20s live in a constant state of panic, and teenagers are trying to make up for years lost to Covid whilst fruitlessly searching for their authentic selves on TikTok. Time to push back! The Netherlands’ favourite neo-fanfare searches for the playing human. New Babylon is an ode to doing nothing, twiddling thumbs, lazing around, lounging and musing. Come dwell, stroll and daydream in works by Rhiannon Giddens, Jan-Peter de Graaff, Ruby Fulton, Claudio Monteverdi and others. Not to become a better person, but simply because it’s enjoyable.
