Ustad Noor Bakhsh
Living legend Ustad Noor Bakhsh plays the benju of his home country Balochistan, an area split among Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan. The instrument was born as a toy for Japanese children and, in South Asian hands, grew into a refined solo instrument. Noor Bakhsh went the experimental direction, with deep roots in Persian and Kurdish music, influences from raags, Bollywood, and Sindhi, African and even Arabian traditions. His groovy improvisation style will get you moving, no doubt!
